Vincent op Vrijdag
The sunflowers painted by Vincent van Gogh were made in a time where Vincent briefly experienced moments of joy. He described the sunflowers as loyal and I associate sunflowers with happiness. Shortly after creating this painting a somewhat less pleasant time began for Vincent. After he got into an argument with his good friend Paul Gauguin, he cut off his ear and ended up in an institution to recover. The combination of cheerful flowers and a tragic story inspired me to make this flower series, in which contrast in image and story prevails. Through the repetition of the sunflowers, I want the manic to come out, so that you are almost suffocated in the joy and left with an ominous feeling.
